Mayor’s Office of Housing Recovery Operations Build it Back

The New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications required development to perform content analytics, metadata extraction, classification, indexing, and renaming of case files for the Build It Back program managed by the Mayor’s Office of Housing Recovery Operations (“HRO”). This was performed in stages, first HRO’s existing archive of case files, and then on HRO’s accumulation of new case files.




The Document Management System identifies a new process for all BIB users who access and upload required documents to SharePoint. A new upgrade has been made to the current document storage where SharePoint is replaced by Document Management System (DMS). This new Document Management System provides the ability to preview documents instantly, improve entity to entity accessibility, upload/update document Metadata promptly. The users have the following capabilities:

  • Download - Ability to download content within an entity they have Read permission on
  • View - Ability to view content within an entitiy they have Read permission on
  • Upload - Ability to upload document within they have Write permission on
  • Edit - Ability to edit content within an entity they have Write permission on
  • Reclassify - Ability to view Manual Classification folder to reclassify a document
